Con l'aiuto del commissario Gordon e del procuratore distrettuale Harvey Dent, Batman cerca di ripulire completamente le strade di Gotham City dal crimine che le infesta. Il Cavaliere Oscuro non ha però fatto i conti con il Joker, che terrorizza i cittadini di Gotham e cerca di farla sprofondare nel caos e nell'anarchia.
